The Open edX Translation Working Group is comprised of members of our global community, focused on optimizing crowdsourced translations and reviews of translations for the following ten languages:
- Spanish (es-419)
- French (CA)
- Arabic
- Italian
- Portuguese (PT)
- German
- Hindi
- Mandarin
- Russian
- Ukrainian
Objective of the Translation Working Group:
The Open edX Translation Working Group focuses on the reviews of translations within the edX-platform project in Transifex, the Open edX website, and our newly added documentation website.
Since its inception, in August of 2021, the group has been able to optimize the translations of software release strings to 100%, within each target language, and review completion rates approaching nearly 100%, yielding enhancement rates in both translations and review of translations of over 50%. Additionally, the group has assisted in integrating multi-language support within the Open edX website and documentation website (new features added this year) to best accommodate our global audience, comprised of over 100 countries.
The Translation Working Group contributes to the success of obtaining high quality translations from the community, while promoting a fully collaborative environment, and will scale to additional languages over time. The members of the Translation Working Group aid in producing higher quality translation content, through detailed revisions and assist in producing a more robust global product, while functioning as curators for new content.
