Dear Open edX Community,
7-years ago in this month of June, we open-sourced our platform and received our very first open source pull request.
Today, we are delighted to share the news of the pilot launch of the Open edX Core Committers program!
Until now, rights and responsibilities to the Open edX platform were solely held by edX employees and contractors. With the Core Committers program, edX is sharing rights and responsibilities with select community members. We will start with a small pilot and gradually scale the program over the next several months. Having an inclusive Core Committers group will also lead to a more vibrant ecosystem that accelerates platform advancement, sustains platform maintenance, and fosters innovative collaboration.
We would not be where we are today without the early dedicated efforts and contributions from our community members. Together, let us take this step forward to stoke the fire we started 7 years ago.
