Reflecting on an Unforgettable Open edX Conference 2026: A Big Thank You!

What an incredible week in Salt Lake City! As we wrap up the Open edX Conference 2026, we are still buzzing from the energy, innovation, and collaboration that defined these four days.

From the hands-on developer workshops and the Digital Credential CoLab on May 19th to our Town Hall on May 22nd—with many presentations and plenary sessions in between—the Open edX Conference brought the global open-source education community together to explore the future of learning. Co-hosted by our wonderful partners at Western Governors University, this year’s conference highlighted the transformative power of skills-forward, AI-enhanced, and learner-first education.

We explored everything from the future of competency-based learning and AI-enabled assessments to practical strategies for platform scalability and technical excellence. The real-world success stories shared by institutions worldwide reminded us all why this community is so special: we are not just building software; we are expanding the human possibility frontier. We heard powerful voices of students whose lives have been transformed by learning and leaders committed to driving student success.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Sponsors

A conference of this magnitude is only possible through the dedication and support of our partners. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, whose commitment to the open-source mission makes this gathering a reality.

Thank you to all our 2026 Sponsors:

Your contributions provided the resources, networking opportunities, and vibrant environment that allowed our community to connect, share, and grow. Thank you for championing the future of open education alongside us.

Looking Ahead

To our attendees, speakers, and organizers—thank you for your passion. Whether you joined us in person in Salt Lake City or followed the action from afar, your participation is what drives the Open edX ecosystem forward.

We are already looking forward to seeing how the innovations discussed this week are implemented in learning environments and platforms across the globe. Stay tuned to the Open edX blog for session recaps, recordings, and highlights from this year’s event.

Until next time—keep building, keep sharing, and keep learning!
