The Open edX team is excited to announce something you’ve undoubtedly already noticed.  edX and the Open edX project have new logos.  We hope you like them as much as we do.

The new logo and the other updates to our look and feel are the culmination of a lengthy design process and a great deal of testing with edX users.  edX’s CMO, Stephanie Brocoum, has a blog post with further details about how our learners inspired these changes and you can read more about the new look and feel via this landing page.

Our makeover will include changes to more than just our logos.  The attentive reader may have already noticed new fonts — Inter and Roboto — and some other changes to the Open edX site.  Over the next months, we’ll be rolling out further changes to our color palette and other site design elements.

As important as what is changing, is what is not.

As a global nonprofit, we continue to relentlessly pursue our vision of a world where every learner can access education to unlock their potential, without the barriers of cost or location.

The Open edX platform is the software that powers in fulfilling our vision.  We use the very same software that’s freely available to the community and we cherish the contributions of the community to the Open edX project.

We remain committed to open source.  The community of contributors is the engine that builds the software used by edX, as well as companies, NGOs, and countries around the world.  Together we are all working to remove barriers to education.  Truly, this movement is “Powered by Open edX.”

If you are a hosting provider or firm that works with the Open edX platform, we would like you to update your sites to feature the new logos.  You can find the new artifacts and updated trademark guidelines here.

We would like everyone using the new logo by the end of January.

If you are using the “Powered by Open edX” logo that we host, that logo will be updated automatically.  If you are not using that logo image URL, we ask that you please do.  It’s a small thing, but it allows us to find sites running the platform.
