The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) built the NIC Academy on the Open edX platform to deliver specialized professional education to a time-constrained, geographically dispersed audience. The centerpiece, the CSHIP Certificate Program, achieved a completion rate above 75%—a meaningful indicator of program relevance and engagement. Working with implementation partner Construct, NIC grew its course catalog from an initial six-course certificate into a multi-track program covering specialized topics and internal onboarding. The platform’s flexibility, analytics capabilities, and integration with WordPress and WooCommerce gave a small team the tools to build and scale a credible professional learning operation in a specialized industry.
