Working Groups are teams dedicated to a project or projects that fit under an easily definable business process. They are designed to create and/or facilitate a particular feature set within the Open edX platform. Our focus is on market expansion, product development, and building strategic partnerships to ensure the platform’s long-term success.
Vision: To establish Open edX as the foremost global platform for scalable, adaptable, and innovative e-learning solutions by driving strategic business development efforts that expand market reach, foster partnerships, and enhance platform competitiveness.
Mission: To support the global growth and sustainability of Open edX by identifying new markets, establishing strategic partnerships, and influencing product development to meet market demands. We aim to ensure that Open edX remains at the forefront of educational innovation, delivering value to both learners and educators.

Charter
The DevOps working group handles all matters related to the operations of an Open edX platform, both in production and development.
The working group is composed of a couple sub-working groups, including:
The Build/Test/Release working group
The Large Instances working group
The Tutor Users’ Group.
These sub-working groups are devops projects that focus on a more specific topic. When a devops issue is raised, it might be assigned to one of these projects if it fits within the scope of the working group.
The DevOps working group is currently chaired by @Régis Behmo.

Description: The Translation Working Group consists of various community members, who assist with submitting, coordinating, and reviewing translations in Transifex, in an effort to enhance Axim Collaborative’s overall localization strategy vis a vis a centralized collaboration approach for crowdsourced translations. The group covers ten target languages and ensures 100% translation completion of all Open edX software releases, as well as the translation of user documentation. The goal of the working group is to cooperate on the deployment and maintenance of large or multi-sites Open edX instances.
Historically, such collaboration was done through the edx-configuration repository, which was maintained as the main deployment method for Open edX by edX. Following the deprecation of the edx-configuration repository, there is no such common ground for collaboration on the deployment of large instances of Open edX. Tutor took over a part of the official deployment process, but focuses on small instances and immediate ease of use, leaving aside the specificity of larger instances. As a result, many Open edX operators and providers have redeveloped custom solutions, often duplicating the work and its maintenance.
This working group is a place where community members come to put their resources in common, to collaborate on the development of solutions specific to running large or multi-site instances, and share its direction and maintenance.

The Maintenance Working Group will focus on the following goals:
The Product Working Group drives and coordinates centralized product leadership and decision-making. The Group owns and manages the high-level product vision for Open edX. It defines and manages the Core Product Offering, and prioritizes and reviews product-level initiatives across the ecosystem.
The Product Working Group is comprised of the following subgroups. Each subgroup owns the roadmap for their area of the platform and holds their own bi-monthly meeting.
Not a Working Group, per say, but a convening of key stakeholders from across Working Groups to coordinate and plan the Community Releases.

The Documentation Working Group focuses on:
Comprehensive Documentation: Assist in developing detailed guides and references for all user roles (educators, course operators, site operators, and developers).
Improved Discoverability: Implement strategies to make documentation accessible, easy to find, and navigate (with a clear structure, table of contents, indexing, and search functionalities).
Enhanced Reliability: Ensure that documentation is always up-to-date and easily accessible.
A Sensible Ecosystem: Prioritize and support an Open edX® documentation ecosystem that has clear sources of truth that are best suited for their purpose or need.
Community Engagement: Encourage a collaborative environment where community members can contribute and find support.
By concentrating on these areas, we aim to provide a robust and user-friendly documentation ecosystem on Read the Docs that supports the Open edX stakeholders.
