In January, we announced the Databits Learning Dashboard Challenge. Today, we’re happy to announce the winner: congratulations to Siyuan Guo!
The goal of this design challenge was to create a dashboard for learners to use, summarizing their progress in an edX or Open edX course in comparison to their peers.
Participants were given a sample set of data to work with and the direction to answer the following questions someone might have while taking a course:
- How far am I in the course? What’s still left?
- How have I engaged with the course?
- How do I compare to others?
- What should I do next?
- Am I on track to reach my goal?
Submissions were judged on the following criteria:
- Motivational Impact
- Experience Design
- Use of comparative data
- Interactivity
- Mobile compatibility
- Visual / design appeal
Siyuan Guo’s dashboard is concise and clean, mimicking style elements used by edX. To read more about the design, check out Siyuan’s submission.
Pierre Boquet and Kevin Robinson are tied as runners up in a very close competition. All of the entries were great. They are available on the Databits website.
