EdX has just released the newest version of the edX Platform on edx.org and edX Edge.

This release includes a number of new features and improvements. The changes include the following enhancements.

  • Course teams that use Microsoft Office Mix to create interactive online lessons can now embed mixes into their courses using the new Office Mix tool in Studio. For more information, see the Office Mix Tool topic in the Building and Running an edX Course guide, or the Office Mix Tool topic in the Building and Running an Open edX Course guide.
  • For open response assessments, course teams can now configure additional file types that learners can upload. Options that allow learners to submit image files, image files or .pdf files, or a custom set of file types along with text responses are now available.  For more information, see the Allow Learners to Submit Files topic in the Building and Running an edX Course guide, or the Allow Learners to Submit Files topic in the Building and Running an Open edX Course guide.
  • The control toolbar for the video player has an updated design. In addition to streamlined icons and messages, the controls include improved announcements spoken by screen readers and simplified navigation.
  • Documentation changes include the reorganization of topics in the Building and Running an edX Course and Building and Running an Open edX Course guides. In some cases, bookmarked links into these guides will need to be updated.
