EdX Release on 22 June 2016

June 21, 2016 | By

EdX has just released the newest version of the edX platform on edx.org and edX Edge.

This release includes the following updates.

  • The edX video player now renders all transcript files as plain text. All HTML markup is removed from the transcript file before the transcript plays. In addition, the indication for the selected speed and transcript language is now clearer when a user’s operating system is in high contrast mode.
  • In course discussions, a problem in which large images sometimes exceeded the width of the discussion area has been resolved. Additionally, learners can no longer vote for or report their own posts.
  • A link to Adding the Video ID, a video that shows how to add video file IDs to video components, is now available in the “Adding Videos to a Course” section of Building and Running an edX Course. This process applies to courses on edx.org.
  • The EdX Learner’s Guide and the Open edX Learner’s Guide have been reorganized to make content easier to find.

For more information about other changes in this release, see the edX Release Notes. You can access the weekly release notes, as well as all of the edX documentation, at docs.edx.org.
