September 21, 2016 | By

EdX has just released the newest version of the edX platform on edx.org and edX Edge.

This release includes the following updates.

  • EdX, with its partner organizations, has now launched MicroMasters programs. Developed to advance careers, and based on the master’s programs of leading universities, each MicroMasters program is a series of higher-level courses that are recognized by companies for real job relevancy, and may accelerate a master’s degree. For more information, see MicroMasters Programs.
  • A new user assistance option is now available on every page of the LMS. On the edx.org and edX Edge sites, learners can now select Help to open the EdX Learner’s Guide. On Open edX instances, selecting Help opens the Open edX Learner’s Guide.
On edx.org, learners now select the renamed Support option to ask questions, report problems, and access the edX FAQ.
  • In the edX mobile app, discussion posts are now identified as having been read after interactions such as adding a response or comment, answering a question, or marking a question as answered. Previously,  posts were identified as unread after such interactions.

For information about these and other changes in this release, see the edX Release Notes. You can access the weekly release notes, as well as all of the edX documentation, at docs.edx.org.
