Upcoming Change in edX Leadership

December 7, 2015 | By

I wanted to communicate some changes within the edX leadership.  Beth Porter, our Vice President of Product, will be leaving edX on December 11. Beth has made a lasting impact on numerous major initiatives during her time at edX, both on edX products and features and within the Open edX community.  We are grateful for Beth’s tireless efforts and commitment to the edX mission to increase access to high-quality education for learners everywhere.  We wish her the best in her future pursuits.

I wanted to inform you of this upcoming change, and to assure you that the Open edX team will continue to thrive under the leadership of Joel Barciauskas. Joel will continue to lead the Open edX community and manage the edX Open edX engineering team. Joel joined edX this July and has worked closely with the rest of our Open edX team and the edX engineering organization to build a healthy, collaborative and vibrant Open edX community. Any specific questions about this transition may be directed to the Open Source team at oscm@edx.org.

Our commitment to open source and the Open edX community remains strong, and these changes will not significantly impact our resource allocation or collaborations.

Please join me in thanking Beth for her enduring contributions to edX and Open edX. We have begun an executive search for a new vice president of product. I look forward to sharing updates with you, our Open edX community, when available.

-Wendy Cebula, COO and President, edX
